Three reasons. First, the $50 cover is usually one concept, one revision; ours is three concepts, two revision rounds. Second, the designer's portfolio matters: a $50 cover designer rarely has 30 covers in your specific category. Third, the source files and full rights transfer are rarely included at the $50 price point.
Are Upwork ghostwriters reliable?
Mixed. Some Upwork ghostwriters are excellent. Many are not, and the vetting is on you. The structural problem with marketplace ghostwriting is accountability — if the writer disappears at chapter eight, your project is stuck and the marketplace's dispute process is not built for half-finished books.
